Description

So this is maybe a month or two old? But i was looking for stuff to upload to DA

I was judging some debate rounds while my kids were debating, and mindlessly drew this with a debaters tools of the trade (dollar store pens and highlighters)but i really like how it turned out (: It's Marz' tiger summon

I had a lot of Lisa Frank-esque style stuff growing up and i wish i could i find these couple images of tigers so i could reaally recreate the color scheme and everything, but for the life of me i cant find them anywhere. It was all like psychedelic with tons of purple and cyan? and there were always tigers and unicorns? It like screamed awful 90s design, but i loved how vibrant and fantastical it was

The colours in this piece are amazing. They match well with eachother, the lighter oranges and yellows highlighting the patterns of the tiger's body and the glow of the red eyes to create focus points. The psychedelic patterns near the rear of the tiger however I feel doesn't flow well with the defined lines of the upper body. This is because they are un-bordered and within the line work of the tiger's body. The secluded tail of the tiger also exaggerates this, as it is preventing these details from falling away from the frame of the tiger. I think that if the solid line work of the body and tail were to be connected, the lineless details could fall apart from this solid base and the piece would look more balanced and come together more fluently.
The photograph of the drawing is also very dark and mutes the colours a lot in this piece, so I would recommend stronger lighting when photographing the images (sometime around noon when strong shadows are cast are usually the best time for photography). I can only imagine how strong the colours would be in real life. Also, though I know this is a style choice for many traditional drawings, the binder of the art diary and the pens in the bottom right corner distract the viewer from the artwork. Overall I really like your style and anatomy choices, and I'm looking forward to more pieces from you in the future.
